The Design of The World

It’s omnipresent. It’s what drew you to that sumptuous new couch and those sinfully expensive new shoes. It is also what made Armani’s millions and got Michaelangelo’s name an indelible place in history. In fact, it’s what man laboured over for centuries till he designed just the perfect word for the sound he wanted.

Design is inarguably what decides the texture of our day-to-day lives and arguably a very important contributor to the colour of money. Everybody wants to shop from the most appealing stores, buy the prettiest things and put them in the most attractive homes. In fact, if you really think about it, it is, more often than not, the desire for the best designed that drives us to more.

Depth, cuts, colours, textures, shapes have driven men to do unthinkable things, creating a furore in the minds of those artistically inclined until the world called them mad and until a Leonardo da Vinci would step in and say, “simplicity is the ultimate sophistication” and the hysteria would die down; albeit momentarily.

And design is what says like nothing else ever could – this is me. Whether it is the design of the space where you live or it’s the design of somebody else’s imagination that clothes you, the way you design your life – for yourself and the world to experience – is what qualitatively decides the legacy you’ll leave behind.

So, come to think of it, it isn’t just the clothes or the car that make anybody. It’s the design behind them all.
